The history of the Hotel Garberwirt

It was around 1820 when a certain Kröll family bought the Kammerland estate and the Garberwirtshaus from Count Attens.

In 1829, the estate was bought by Johann Stock at auction for 9,240 guilders and managed by various family members over the following years. In 1901, after a 30-year stay in America, Johann Leitner acquired full ownership of the Garberwirt for 22,000 crowns.

From the 1930s onwards, it was run by his son Michael and Elisabeth and in the 1950s it was run again by their son Johann and Margarete from Bad Hall until 1981.

Realignment under Johann and Hildegard Prückl

Johann Prückl and his wife Hildegard, who unfortunately died of a serious illness in 2002, then acquired the property. An extensive renovation was necessary. This was carried out in 2005/2006 . The Garberwirt was thus an establishment with 3-star status!

Chef Hans is in the fortunate position of being able to run a lovingly managed family business with his three charming daughters and his partner Klaudia, as well as his son Markus from the Penkenpanorahma mountain restaurant.
